Hey.

Mamet’s voice is one of the best around. Her sound is smoky, sensual, folksy, emotive and controlled.
— Art Edelstein (Times Argus, VT)

Willa Mamet is blessed with a rich, warm, emotionally-packed, intimate voice. Her interpretations of other peoples’ songs are breathtaking. But it’s her own deeply felt and insightful songwriting and fearless, funny stage presence that has her star rising in an early evening sky.

Origins

Singer and songwriter, Willa Mamet was born in a trunk and raised by performers of all kinds.   She’s made music since about that time, singing irrepressibly and playing piano and guitar. With her musical partner, Paul Miller, she recorded two albums, East Hill Road and Let Somebody Love You, both of which won the VT Times Argus “Tammy” Album of the Year in 2013 and 2015.

Her next album, produced by Julie Wolf, is currently in gestation. Meanwhile, she plays out sola, with Miller, and with Genesis Fermin as Power Snatch, bringing her unique blend of rapier tongue and honey heart to audiences everywhere.

Catch a year’s worth of her monthly livecast How to Be A Hero for Independent Music, bringing resources to community conversation. And as one of the co-hosts of I Need Space, a live stream queer music festival that ran for the first ten months of the pandemic. When home in the Bay Area, she also co-hosts the open mic at Berkeley’s beloved Freight & Salvage.

Hear the voice that Patti Lupone calls, “Heartbreaking. Musical. Contemporary and ancient.”

Willa lives in Southern VT with her beloved upright, her uncle’s guitar, a forest of herbs, and her pup, Lenny.

She travels. A lot. For music.

Willa’s gorgeous vocals are warm and silky,
they pull you in and rock you on gentle waves, but she can also belt it out with the best of them.
