Lullaby for an Anxious Child

LULLABY FOR AN ANXIOUS CHILD

Lucy, unfurrow your brow.  What is it now?  What is it now?

Lucy, the rivers will flow and the winds will blow -That’s what they do.

Each day the sun will set a little bit less or a little bit more

Than the days he did before

And each day the sun will rise.  See for yourself, just open your eyes.

Lucy, it’s safe to open your eyes.

Lucy, what troubles your soul?  You’re so young to know these things you know.

Lucy, where have you been?  How can I unsee all these things you’ve seen?

Each day the stars will shine a little bit less or a little bit more

THan the days they did before.

Each day the stars will show - see for yourself, if you’re willing to know.

Lucy, it’s safe that you want to know.

Lucy, your worries are real; that’s a lot to feel.  It’s so much to feel.

Lucy, the waters are deep, but so is the Mother Love and it’s safe to sleep.

And each day the sun will set a little bit less or a little bit more

Than the days it did before.

And each day the sun will rise.  Trust for yourself, now close your eyes.

Lucy, it’s safe to close your eyes.
